Crack Pipe, Crack Pipe, Crack Pipe! Average VW Thing for $100 Shy of $17k?
I've owned award winning (original) VW Things. This one has corrosion under the hinges (pick your hinges), the convertible frame is rusty, it has average dirty unpolished paintwork, and incorrect wheels. (I could continue but we don't have time for such a rant.)
The magical price you ask? $16,900.00. Yes, the pice does include an extra number. I even called the dealer in Fairfield, CA to confirm the price. Confirmed. The price again is not $6,900.00 but $16,900.00 (SIXTEEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS). (Not including dealer prep, tax, and title.) Okay, I added the last bit but we all know the sale will include prep, tax, and title fees.
I love vintage VW's and lately the prices have been a bit loopy. But any Thing that costs $16,900.00 should, at the least, be 100% original and Pebble Beach worthy. See the link below from the Los Angeles Craigslist for the full posting and pictures.
